HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 91-166 4 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Section 34.05(a) of the Texas Property Tax Code states "If Property is sold to a taxing unit that is a party to the judgment, the taxing unit may sell the property at any time, subject to any right of redemption existing at the time of sale;" and, WHEREAS, Section 34.05(c) of the Texas Property Tax Code states in part "If the purchasing taxing unit has not sold the property within six months after the date on which the owner's right of redemption terminates, any taxing unit that is entitled to receive proceeds of the sale by resolution of its governing body, may request the sheriff in writing to sell the property at a public sale;" and, WHEREAS, the deed to the property described as the west 45 feet of the south 93 feet of Lot 6, Block 1, South Blanchette Addition, has been held by the City of Beaumont and Beaumont Independent School District for the required period of six months after the former owner's redemption rights have expired; and, WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont will receive the benefit of proceeds from the sale and additional tax revenue once the property is placed on the current tax roll; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: I THAT the City of Beaumont hereby requests the Jefferson County Sheriff to sell the above- described property on the first Tuesday of August, 1991.
