R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont's Fire Department was
granted approval in this year's budget to purchase additional
emergency vehicle priority control components to expand the
existing system. The system identifies priority vehicles by means
of optical communication; and,
WHEREAS, the System currently in place throughout the
City is a 3M Opticom priority control system; and,
WHEREAS, this purchase is exempt from bidding
requirements under state law because the functional requirements
of the existing emergency priority control system can be satisfied
by only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Consolidated Traffic Controls, Incorporated,
Arlington, Texas is the only distributor of the Opticom System that
is able to bid due to 3M's distributor territorial boundaries;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to approve
the purchase of the components needed for the expansion of the
Opticom System from Consolidated Traffic Controls, Incorporated,
Arlington, Texas in the amount of $51,290. 00.
