WHEREAS, funds are available under the Fiscal Year 1991
Highway Safety Improvement Program - Hazard Elimination System
administered by the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation; and,
WHEREAS, the City has identified two locations that qualify
for improvements under the program. The first project being
construction of dedicated left turn lanes for north and south bound
traffic at the intersection of Fourth and Corley. The second
project is the modification of the median openings in the 3900
block of Phelan; and,
WHEREAS, construction of these projects is estimated at
$70, 000. 00 with the City commitment of matching funds equal to ten
percent of that amount;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to apply for
funds for the projects described herein and take all actions
necessary to apply for the funds under the Fiscal Year 1991 Highway
Safety Improvement Program - Hazard Elimination System administered
by the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation.
