WHEREAS, Mobil Oil Corporation is sponsoring a program
in which grants are made to cities to provide summer jobs for high
school students from low and low-to-moderate income families.
WHEREAS, the goals of this program are to provide
productive employment for youth during the summer vacation period,
to create goodwill in the community and to assist City departments
needing additional personnel during the summer; and
WHEREAS, Beaumont has been chosen to be the recipient of
a $32, 000 Mobil Summer Youth Employment Grant which will provide
summer jobs for 20 students from Beaumont's two public high
schools; and
WHEREAS, the program will be beneficial not only to the
young people seeking summer employment but also to the citizens of
the community in the services provided through the summer jobs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the Mobil Summer Youth Employment Grant be and is hereby
accepted with an expression of gratitude from the City Council on
behalf of the citizens of Beaumont.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
