WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont's Fire Department recently
had Snorkel No. 1, a Seagraves fire truck, mounted with an 85 foot
elevating platform, safety tested and inspected; and,
WHEREAS, an inspection revealed that the aerial device
mounted on this truck was not in compliance with safety standards
and was in need of repair; and,
WHEREAS, a quote for repairing the unit was obtained by
the Fire Department from the manufacturer, this quote includes
completely rebuilding the platform unit at a cost of $33, 185. 00;
and;
WHEREAS, this unit requires captive replacement parts
that can only be obtained from Snorkel Economy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to approve
the repairs of the unit by Snorkel Economy, in St. Joseph, Missouri
at a cost of $33, 185. 00.
