WHEREAS, agriculture and rural small businesses are a
vital part of the Texas economy and have the potential of
providing the state with much needed stability and flexibility;
and,
WHEREAS, new state finance and marketing initiatives
are needed to help Texas farmers and ranchers and rural residents
by providing opportunities for development enterprises that will
help diversify and enhance the Texas economy; and,
WHEREAS, voter approval of Proposition 3 has the
potential to produce almost One Billion Dollars
($1 ,000 ,000 ,000 .00 ) in new agricultural and rural business sales
and to create thirty thousand ( 30,000 ) new jobs in the next four
(4 ) years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Council of the City of Beaumont fully support
proposed agriculture and rural development related amendments on
the November 7 ballot.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board recommends that
Texans state-wide vote in favor of Proposition 3 because it holds
the Key for establishing a healthy state economy for all Texans.
