WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont,
Texas, pursuant to the authority granted by Section 271 .083 of
the State Local Government Code, as amended, desires to
participate in described purchasing programs of the State
Purchasing and General Services Commission; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that
participation in these programs will be highly beneficial to the
taxpayers of the City of Beaumont through the anticipated savings
to be realized;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby requests
that the State Purchasing and General Services Commission include
its stated need for twenty-four (24) patrol units, sixteen ( 16 )
detective units and twenty (20 ) automobiles and light duty trucks
and vans on the Commission' s annual contracts for those items,
whereby the City of Beaumont may be allowed to purchase those
items from the annual contract.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Ray Riley, City manager of
the City of Beaumont, is authorized and directed to sign and
deliver all necessary requests and other documents in connection
therewith for and on behalf of the City of Beaumont.
