WHEREAS, on March 21 , 1989 , Gulf States Utilities filed
with the City of Beaumont a statement of intent to change
electric rates by increasing such rates approximately $67.5
million; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Utility Regulatory Act (P.U.R.A. )
provides that the city shall hold a hearing to determine the
propriety of such change in electric rates in every case in which
the change constitutes a major change as defined by P.U.R.A. ;
and,
WHEREAS, the change requested by Gulf States Utilities
constitutes a major change in rates;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT a public hearing be held before the City Council of the City
of Beaumont at 1 : 15 p.m. , Tuesday, April 11 , 1989 in the City
Council Chambers.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney be, and
he is hereby, authorized and directed to provide Gulf States
Utilities and others as required by law with notice of this
hearing.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
