WHEREAS, to comply with the Federal Aviation
Administration' s grant for the Beaumont Municipal Airport, the
air rights on several parcels of land above Runway 12-30
approaches must be acquired; and,
WHEREAS, the clear zone at the approach end of Runway
12 was obstructed by tall trees and in order to achieve an
unobstructed 20:1 approach (one foot of elevation for each twenty
feet of horizontal distance) within the southeastern approach, it
was necessary to purchase the air rights and improvements on a
portion of Lots 1 and 2 , Block 40 , Gulf Terrace Addition, for the
appraised value of $7,700.00 ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to
purchase a clear zone easement out of Lots 1 and 2 , Block 40 ,
Gulf Terrace Addition for the Beaumont Municipal Airport from Mr.
and Mrs. John David Bridges for the appraised value of $7,700.00.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
