R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, on August 8 , 1988, proposals were received for
a contract for long distance service; and,
WHEREAS, proposals were submitted by Southwest
Communications, Inc. , the City' s current long distance carrier,
and MCI Telecommunications Corporation; and
WHEREAS, MCI Telecommunications Corporation submitted a
proposal which, based on current rates, would result in savings
of $2 ,232 .00 per month over that of Southwest Communications,
Inc. ; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the
proposal submitted by MCI Telecommunications Corporation is the
best proposal submitted and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the rate and pricing proposal submitted by MCI
Telecommunications Corporation, attached hereto as Exhibit "A, "
be accepted by the City of Beaumont for a period of twelve ( 12)
months with annual renewal of the contract optional upon mutual
consent of both parties not to extend more than three (3 ) years.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
