WHEREAS, on July 20, 1987, bids were received for the
cleaning and painting of the 1 .0 m.g. elevated water storage tank
located on Liberty at 13th Streets; and,
WHEREAS, Steel Life, Inc. of Beaumont, Texas, submitted
a bid in the amount of $49,864; and,
WHEREAS, in 1984, a similar storage tank located on
Kenneth and Harriot Streets was cleaned and painted at a cost of
approximately $28,000; and,
WHEREAS, bids for the Liberty Street tank were
estimated to be in the $30,000 - $35,000 range with $35,000
budget for the project;
NOWT THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the bid submitted for the cleaning and painting of the 1 .0
m.g. elevated water storage tank located on Liberty at 13th
Streets be rejected and that the project be readvertised.
