R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, cities in the Gulf States service area share a
common concern about the ability of the company to provide
affordable electricity; and,
WHEREAS, such cities desire to consolidate their
efforts to obtain information concerning what options may exist
for both cities and Gulf States Utilities Company concerning the
future of electric service; and,
WHEREAS, a coalition of cities is being proposed to
share the expense of a study to determine such options;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an
agreement with other cities in the Gulf States service area for
the purpose of contracting for a study of those options which
exist both for cities in the Gulf States service area and for
Gulf States Utilities for continuing to provide affordable
electric service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he
is hereby, .authorized to pay a proportionate share of the cost of
such study based upon the number of electric meters existing in
the City of Beaumont on the date of this resolution.
