R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the year 1987 marks the 150th year of the
founding of the City of Beaumont; and
WHEREAS, this important milestone provides an
opportunity to focus our attention on the growth and progress of
our city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont formed a Beaumont
Sesquicentennial Commission to carry out plans for celebrating
this memorable event; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City that this
Celebration be a self-sustaining one financially; and
WHEREAS, the Commission anticipates revenue from such
projects as admissions to an historical spectacle and a published
historical commemorative booklet and program, a carnival and
concessions, and the sale of such novelties and souvenirs as
booster badges, membership certificates, commemorative coins,
hats, bonnets, old-fashioned wearing apparel, plus ties, plates
and similar items;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAU AIONT:
THAT no individual, company, or organization should sell, trade
or give away anything that has a Celebration reference or uses
the Celebration logo without first obtaining written permission
from the Beaumont Sesquicentennial Commission and that no permits
be granted to anyone by the City of Beaumont unless such written

permission is granted by the aforementioned Beaumont
Sesquicentennial Commission.
