WHEREAS, Chapter 122 of the Human Resources Code provides
political subdivisions an opportunity to award contracts by means
other than the normal competitive bidding process when the
contracts involve a non-profit agency for blind or handicapped
persons; and,
WHEREAS, Beaumont Products and Services, Inc. , a
non-profit organization, certified by Texas Industries for the
Blind and Handicapped, qualifies as an "assigned sheltered
workshop"; and,
WHEREAS, Beaumont Products and Services, Inc. has agreed
to provide for litter pick-up on arterial streets for $95,765; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has elected to award a
contract to Beaumont Products and Services, Inc. in order to
provide an employment opportunity to Beaumont' s handicapped
workers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT Beaumont Products and Services, Inc. be awarded the contract
for arterial streets litter pick-up in the City of Beaumont for a
period of three (3) years in the amount of $95,765.
