WHEREAS, on January 28, 1986, the City Council approved a
resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into an Interlocal
Agreement with Jefferson County for the terms of the County' s
participation in construction of an access road and ramps on
Interstate 10 between Brooks Road and F.M. 364; and,
WHEREAS, the agreement stated that, if the County funded
construction of the access road and the city later created a Tax
Increment Zone in the area served by the access road, the County
would be credited with having contributed the cost of the road and
would not be required to make payments into the Tax Increment Fund
until their total obligation to the fund exceed $1 . 2 Million; and,
WHEREAS, the previously approved Interlocal Agreement
lapsed on January 1 , 1987 because the State had not approved final
plans for the project as required under the terms of the agreement;
and,
WHEREAS, in order to continue with the project, Council
is asked to authorize the City Manager to sign a new Interlocal
Agreement with an extended deadline;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter
into an Interlocal Agreement with Jefferson County for construct-Lon
of Interstate 10 access roads.
