BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the intervention of the City of Beaumont in the combined PUC
Dockets 7195 and 6755, which concern the authority of Gulf States
Utilities to change rates and an inquiry into the prudency and
efficiency of the planning and management of the construction of
the River Bend Nuclear Generating Station be, and the same are
hereby ratified and approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney is hereby
authorized to retain and pay the firm of Diversified Utility
Consultants, Inc. to provide expert analysis and testimony in such
electric rate case.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney is
authorized to retain and pay the firm of Don Butler and Grace
Casstevens as special counsel to assist in providing legal services
for the City of Beaumont in the pending GSU request. All costs
associated with these rate cases are to be reimbursed by Gulf
States Utilities Company to the City of Beaumont. The City Clerk
is hereby directed to provide a certified copy of this resolution
to Gulf States Utilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney is hereby
appointed as the City of Beaumont' s representative on the Steering
Committee to control the management of the rate case for the
consortium of cities in this area.
