HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 86-300 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, no policy, other than that established for all city employees, exists governing travel by the City Manager; and, WHEREAS, the Council believes that a specifically approved policy should be established; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT : THAT a travel policy is hereby established for the City Manager as follows : 1) The Council recognizes and endorses the City Manager' s active participation in the International City Management Association and Texas City Management Association activities and approve his participation in such organizations. 2) The City Council recognizes the advantage to the city of the City Manager' s participation in professional development, honorary assignments to boards and committees, and workshops related to the responsibilities of a City Manager. Such activity should be made known to the Council by the Manager in advance and, if the Council does not disapprove, travel and related expenses for such activities should be handled in accordance with the city' s existing travel policy. 3) The City Council endorses such other travel requirements as may be directly related to the ongoing responsibilities of the City Manager. Such activities would include but not be limited to necessary bond ratings trips, legislative issues both in Washington and Austin, litigation related travel and such other travel as may require the presence of the City Manager. 4) In each instance in which travel is approved, the city' s travel policy concerning eligible payment, perdiem charges, and documentation shall be applicable. a PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the day of cf - mss• 1986.
