HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 86-232 9°2 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, on November 6, 1984, the City Council officially approved the Beaumont Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee and the 1986 Sesquicentennial Master Plan; and, WHEREAS, the Coordinating Committee' s responsibilities are due to expire in September of 1986 with the completion of the master plan events and programs; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is interested in the continued support of the programs and projects related to the celebration of the recognition of the heritage of our community and state; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a City of Beaumont Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee to continue the programs and projects of the sesquicentennial celebration; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT there is hereby created a City of Beaumont Sesquicentennial Coordinating Commission to be composed of seven ( 7 ) members who are resident citizens of the City of Beaumont. The members of the commission shall be appointed by the City Council for a term which expires on December 31, 1987. The chariman of the commission shall be appointed by the Mayor. Vacancies shall be filled by the City Council for any unexpired term. Members of the City of Beaumont Sesquicentennial Commission shall serve without compensation. All members of the Sesquicentennial Commission shall be subject to removal at the will and pleasure of the Council . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Commission shall participate with the City Council in developing continued goals and all activities relative to the continued celebration of the projects and programs related to the heritage of our community and state.
