WHEREAS, the Texas Economic Development Commission has
developed and is implementing the Texas Cities for Economic
Leadership Program ( "TEXCEL" ) ; and,
WHEREAS, the program is designed to certify cities as
to their preparation in the area of economic development; and,
WHEREAS, city facilities and services as well as the
organized efforts of public officials and private entities will be
examined by the Texas Economic Development Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City of Beaumont applies for participation in the TEXCEL
program with Chamber of Commerce Executive, Jim Stokes named as the
contact person during the application process.
The Beaumont Chamber of Commerce is further authorized to
coordinate the TEXCEL activities with the Texas Economic
Development Commission.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
