R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, as part of the Primary Agreement-Beaumont
Railroad Relocation-Grade Separation Project, as amended in 1972,
the Southern Pacific Transportation Company granted the City an
easement out of the Noah Tevis League, Abstract No. 52, to extend
Neches Street from its terminus north of Crockett Street to Laurel
Avenue, as shown on the attached Exhibit "A" ; and,
WHEREAS, the design of the Crockett Connector Project
realigns the existing easement for a smoother transition into
Laurel Street and the existing Janes Street; and,
WHEREAS, the new design requires 33,824.67 square feet
(0 .78 acres) of easement; and,
WHEREAS, Southern Pacific Transportation Company has
agreed to the purchase and exchange of property rights; and,
WHEREAS, the City would quitclaim to Southern Pacific
Transportation Company the remaining 12, 102.35 square feet (0 .28
acres) of the original easement and then purchase 8, 276.4 square
feet (0 .19 acres) of easement for the remaining property needed
from Southern Pacific Transportation Company at the appraised value
of $33, 105.50 ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized to execute a
Quitclaim Deed to Southern Pacific Transportation Company on a
12, 102.35 square foot tract of land out of the Noah Tevis League,
Abstract No. 52.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the purchase of the following
tract of property be approved:
8, 276.4 square foot tract of land out of the
Noah Tevis League, Abstract No. 52
Approved Value: $33, 105.60
