BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the Lamar Police Academy be, and it is hereby, relocated to
the Beaumont Fire Training "Grounds, the details of which are
substantially set out in the contract attached hereto as Exhibit
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this

COUNTY OF JEFFERSON § KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS
WHEREAS, Lamar University at Beaumont and the City of Beaumont
(hereinafter called "Parties") , all located in Jefferson County, Texas, have
determined that it is to their mutual benefit to locate the Police Academy of
the Public Services Division of Lamar University at Beaumont (hereinafter
called "Police Academy") at the Fire Tra-*ning Grounds owned by the City of
Beaumont.
WHEREAS, Article 4413 (32c) , V,A.T.S. , authorizes joint
participation by governmental bodies in such a project, and WHEREAS, such
project will benefit the health, safety and welfare of each of the aforesaid
�- Parties , they each have determined that they should enter into this project
jointly as set forth below and therefore ha e each contracted and agreed as
follows :
1. The Police Academy of the Public Services Division of Lamar
University at Beaumont will relocate from Lamar University at Beaumont to the
fire training grounds owned by the City of Beaumont and located on Pine Street
in the City of Beaumont.
2. Lamar University at Beaumont will :
a) Move a building owned by the University to a site on the
fire training grounds to house the Police Academy.
b) Retain ownership of the building.
c) Improve the site by providing a septic system for the
building.

r d) Pay for all costs incurred for use of metered electrical

and water utilities . _
e) Provide for custodial services in the building.
f) Provide for general maintenance and upkeep of the building.
g) Provide for ground maintenance on the perimeter of the
building.
h) Make the facility-available to the City of Beaumont for
special usage on an availability basis.
3. The City of Beaumont will :
a) Provide a site to plate the building which will house the
Policy Academy.
b) -Prepare the site for he placement of the building by
grading and leveling t:ie site.
c) Allow for the use of the grounds at the site by the Policy
Academy for the normal -iraining required by their programs.
4. The parties will work in cooperation to improve the site of the
fire training grounds by creating a pistol firing range for use by both the
Police Academy and the City of Beaumont.
5. This agreement may be cancelled by either party with written
notification one hundred and eighty days prior to cancelation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Parties have entered into this agreement as
of the day of September 1985.
