WHEREAS, on October 9 , 1984, the City Council of the City
of Beaumont recognized and endorsed the Sister City Program to
establish greater friendship and understanding between the peoples
of the United States and other nations through the medium of direct
personal contact; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has fostered a continuous
bond with the government and people of its Sister City, Beppu City,
Japan; and,
WHEREAS, in honor of the established relationship between
the governments and people of the City of Beaumont and Beppu City,
Japan, the City Council wishes to dedicate a fitting tribute to
Beppu City, Japan; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that to name the Third
Floor Conference Room the "Beppu City Room" would be such a
tribute;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the Third Floor Conference Room in City Hall be declared the
"Beppu City Room" in honor of the Sister City relationship shared
with Beppu City, Japan.
