R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the need to diversify our city' s economy and to
attract various types of industry to our area has been expressed by
many; and,
WHEREAS, as a response to this request, the Beaumont Port
Commission, the Port Arthur Port Commission, the Orange Port
Commission and the Jefferson County Airport investigated the
possibility of the Golden Triangle being declared a Foreign Trade
Zone which would attract new industry , new manufacturers and
increased job opportunities to the area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT :
THAT the City of Beaumont support the designation of the Golden
Triangle Area as a Foreign Trade Zone and urge that immediate steps
be taken by the Foreign Trade Zone Board to initiate this action.
