R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, as a result of the Futures Conference, it is
clear that the Beaumont-Orange-Port Arthur MSA should take a new
direction in order to improve the overall economic base of this
area; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont wishes to communicate a
sense of urgency and necessary action to all individuals, groups,
and businesses in the golden triangle; and,
WHEREAS, this new direction should take the form of a
regional marketing organization whose purpose will be to coordinate
regional marketing in this area for purposes of economic develop-
ment and jobs. Specifically , the organization will:
( 1 ) Assure coordination of regional information,
advertising and mailings.
( 2 ) Conduct external marketing of the region
including preparation of promotion materials
coordinating equitable distribution of
inquiries and referrals , maintaining suitable
listings and information for industrial and
commercial recruitment.
( 3 ) Serve as a continuing forum for dialogue among
individuals and organizations concerned with
economic development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City of Beaumont hereby supports the concept and
development of a regional marketing organization to carry out the
purposes hereinabove described in order to improve the overall
economic base of the Beaumont-Orange-Port Arthur MSA; and Karl
No llenberger, city manager, is hereby appointed as the city' s
representative on the regional marketing organization.
