WHEREAS, by Resolution 83-27 adopted by the City Council
on January 18 , 1983, the City Manager was authorized, to execute a
contract with the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce for operation of the
Convention and Visitors Bureau and to provide funding therefor in
the amount of $273,000 for the period beginning February 1 , 1983
and ending September 30, 1983 ; and,
WHEREAS, the agreement as executed provided that all
payments made thereunder would be made for funds as available and
as collected from the ,hotel/motel occupancy tax; and,
WHEREAS, the revenues from said tax are insufficient to
fund the amount authorized;
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT Resolution R-83-27 adopted on January 18 , 1983 be, and the
same is hereby , amended to provide that funding to the Beaumont
Chamber of Commerce for operation of a Convention and Visitors
Bureau for the period beginning February 1 , 1983 and ending
September 30 , 1983 be reduced to the total sum of $ 188, 770. 00 ;
and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he
is hereby , directed to execute an amendment to the contract between
the City of Beaumont and the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce reducing
its funding as provided herein.
