R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the natural industrial development of the City of
Beaumont and Jefferson County is along Interstate Highway 10 west of
Washington Boulevard; and ,
WHEREAS, that natural industrial development would mean
many new jobs to the City and County; and ,
WHEREAS, that natural industrial development is impeded and
in some areas totally prevented by the lack of access roads along
Interstate Highway 10 ; and,
WHEREAS, the absence of such roads results in excessive
truck traffic on County roads because of the decentralization of
industry;
NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Council of the City of Beaumont supports the creation
of a joint legislative committee to study state and federal policies
concerning access roads to interstate highways, the impact of such
access roads on the economic life of urban areas , and the costs and
funding options available for construction of said roads .
