Box 3827 Beaumont, Texas 77704 Re: 69-0740677 Dear Mr. Thompson: Your records will reveal that on December 7, 1982, the City Council of the City of Beaumont took action to request the termination of the existing agreement extending Social Security participation to employees of the City of Beaumont. In compliance with pertinent provisions of the Federal Social Security Act, notification was promptly forwarded to the Social Security Administration. We have been informed by that agency that the coverage agreement will terminate December 31 , 1984. It is our understanding that the City Council of the City of Beaumont can withdraw the request with proper notice filed prior to the effective date of termination. However, if we are not advised to the contrary, then the Social Security participation of the City of Beaumont will end on Decem- ber 31 , 1984; and thereafter, under present provisions of the Federal Act, no future agreement may be made by the City of Beaumont to reestablish Social Security participation.
