WHEREAS, bids were received for the purchase of three
(3) vans for transportation of the handicapped; and,
WHEREAS, Smith Sales of Austin, Texas submitted a bid
in the amount of $131,463. 00; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the
bid submitted by Smith Sales is the lowest and best bid meeting
specifications and should be accepted; and,
WHEREAS, the City has applied to the Urban Mass
Transportation Administration and the Texas Department of
Highways and Public Transportation for grants to fund
ninety-three percent 93% of the purchase price;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the bid of Smith Sales for the purchase of three (3) vans
for transportation of the handicapped in the the amount of
$131, 463. 00 be accepted by the City of Beaumont subject to
approval of said grant applications by the Urban Mass
Transportation Administration and the Texas Department of
Highways and Public Transportation and that the City Manager is
hereby authorized to make payment for same upon acceptable
delivery.
