R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The City Council by Ordinance 78-107 dated
November 7, 1978, authorized an agreement with the Port of Beaumont
Navigation District for the purchase of 5. 279 acres of land out of
the Noah Tevis Survey to be used for Riverfront Park; and,
WHEREAS, the purchase price of the property was $638,800;
and,
WHEREAS, the property was leased by the City from the
Port for a term of 22 years at an annual rental of $48,000; and,
WHEREAS, the Port reserved the right to convey the
property to the City at any time upon payment of $638,800 plus
interest in excess of the annual rental payments; and,
WHEREAS, the Port is ready to make such conveyance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute
all appropriate documents and authorizing the transfer of federal
securities and interest earned in the special fund created by
Ordinance 78-107 to the Port of Beaumont Navigation District in
exchange for the conveyance to the City of 5.279 acres of land out
of the Noah Tevis Survey to be used as Riverfront Park.
