WHEREAS, over a period of many years the name of Klein has
become synonymous in the minds of Beaumonters with efforts to improve
the community, and
WHEREAS, members of the Klein family have played a prominent
Dart in the growth and development of Beaumont by their civic leader-
ship and support of programs for the public good, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Martha Klein has tendered to the City of Beau-
mont a gift of $50,000 in memory of her late husband, Albert Klein, to
be used for the development of Northwest Park, a new 26-acre multipurpose
community park proposed for construction on the southeast corner of the
intersection of Griffing and Walker Roads, and
WHEREAS, this new park will offer a wide variety of recre-
ational resources including exercise trails , athletic facilities, tennis
courts, picnic shelters, playgrounds and horticultural areas in a preserved
wooded natural setting, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Klein's endowment of this project will be a sig-
nificant contribution to broadening the city's recreational resources and
improving the quality of life in the community,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT we hereby -express our gratitude to Mrs. Klein on behalf of the citizens
of Beaumont and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the park shall bear the name "Klein
Park' .
