HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 81-425 -�/- .S R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has entered into collective bargaining with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 399 ( the "Union" ) in accordance with the Texas Fire and Police Employee Relations Act; and, WHEREAS, the Union has requested arbitration of unresolved issues as provided in Article XXVIII of the labor agreement between the City and the Union; and, WHEREAS, the City is required to enter into an agreement with the Union to arbitrate unresolved issues; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: 1 . That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter into an agreement with Local 399, International Association of Firefighters for the arbitration of unresolved collective bargaining issues. 2 . That the City Attorney be, and he is hereby, authorized to employ Coopers & Lybrand and other witnesses as necessary for consultation and testimony at arbitration proceedings and to appoint Charles Kothe as a member of the arbitration panel. 3 . That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to pay Coopers & Lybrand and other witnesses and consultants their fees and expenses, to pay Charles Kothe' s fees and expenses, to pay one-half the fees and expenses of the neutral arbitrator, to pay court reporting charges, and to pay other charges and expenses in connection with the arbitration proceedings in a combined total amount not to exceed $70,000.
