ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN
STRUCTURES TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND
ORDERING THEIR DEMOLITION, RENOVATION AND
REMOVAL; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND
PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That the City Council of the City of Beaumont has heretofore found and declared
the buildings located at:
2755 Cable (garage) 1125 E. Lucas
2665 Cox 1750 Magnolia
2755 Grand 585 Jackson
4055 Hester 580 Martin
3967 Houston 5270 Midford
380 Jeanette 2455 Roman
2165 Linson 930-40 Spruce
2175 Linson 3380 Taliaferro
2355 Linson 3402 Texas
2445 Linson 5120 Wilshire & garage
965 Church 614 Prince
850 Elm 570 E. Simmons
1315 Evans 3385 Taliaferro
2995 Glenwood 651 Washington Boulevard
1402 Maple 4404 Berkley (garage in rear)
2288 Victoria (front structure) 1307 Caldwell
2288 Victoria (rear structure) 965 E. Lucas (nursery)(main and 3
661 Washington Boulevard auxiliary)
to be public nuisances in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code
of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of age or
dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or
property, and has ordered them to be repaired or demolished.
Section 2.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within thirty (30) days
of the effective date of this ordinance:
2755 Cable (garage) 1125 E. Lucas
2665 Cox 1750 Magnolia
2755 Grand 5120 Wilshire & garage
4055 Hester 580 Martin
3967 Houston 5270 Midford
380 Jeanette 2455 Roman
2165 Linson 930-40 Spruce
2175 Linson 3380 Taliaferro
2355 Linson 3402 Texas
2445 Linson
Section 3.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described building either demolish or repair said structure within thirty (30) days
of the effective date of this ordinance:
965 Church 614 Prince
850 Elm 570 E. Simmons
1315 Evans 3385 Taliaferro
2995 Glenwood 651 Washington Boulevard
Section 4.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described buildings either demolish, repair or initiate a work program for repair
of said structure within sixty (60) days of the effective date of this ordinance:
3005 Magnolia (garage apartment)
1402 Maple
Section 5.
The following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by
the City of Beaumont without previous order. The following structures were declared to
be public nuisances in violation of Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City in Section 1 hereof:
4404 Berkley (garage in rear) 2288 Victoria (front structure)
1307 Caldwell 2288 Victoria (rear structure)
585 Jackson 661 Washington Boulevard
965 E. Lucas (nursery) (main
and 3 auxiliary)
Section 6.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or
the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any
reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance
are declared to be severable.
Section 7.
That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon
conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of
Beaumont, Texas.
