ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
ORDINANCE 95-62 BY GRANTING A
12-MONTH TIME EXTENSION FOR A
SPECIFIC USE PERMIT ALLOWING
THE REMOVAL, RENOVATION AND
ADDITION TO SEVERAL
BUILDINGS/STRUCTURES, AND
CONSTRUCTION OF NEW PARKING
LOT AND NEW OPEN AIR PAVILION AT
2985 & 3025 FRENCH ROAD (JOHN J.
FRENCH MUSEUM).
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Beaumont issued a Specific Use Permit
to allow the removal, renovation and addition to several buildings/structures, and
construction of new parking lot and new open air pavilion at 2985 & 3025 French Road
(John J. French Museum) in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, Section 30-26(G) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont
provides that a Specific Use Permit shall be valid for a period of two (2) years from the
date of issuance and shall become null and void unless construction or use is substantially
underway during said two (2) year period or unless an extension of time is approved by
the City Council; and,
WHEREAS, Beaumont Heritage Society has requested an extension of time for a
period of an additional twelve (12) months to remove, renovate and complete additions to
several buildings/structures, and construct a new parking lot and new open air pavilion at
2985 & 3025 French Road; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the granting of a twelve (12)
month extension of time for the Specific Use Permit is in the best interest of the City of
Beaumont and its citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Ordinance 95-62 granting a Specific Use Permit to the Beaumont Heritage
Society, its legal representatives, successors and assigns for the removal, renovation and
addition to several buildings/structures, and construction of new parking lot and new open
air pavilion at 2985 & 3025 French Road (John J. French Museum), as described on
Exhibit "A" attached hereto and in accordance with the site plan attached hereto as Exhibit
"B" and made a part hereof for all purposes be, and it is hereby, amended to extend the
time for the continuance of the Specific Use Permit from September 26, 1997 to September
26, 1998.
Section 2.
That the Specific Use Permit shall be, in all other respects, subject to all of the
applicable regulations and conditions contained in Ordinance 95-62, as approved by the
City Council of the City of Beaumont on September 26, 1995.
