HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 96-58 ORDINANCE NO. 0/ ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, SECTION 6-140 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO ADOPT THE 1994 EDITION OF THE STANDARD PLUMBING CODE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. THAT Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont is hereby amended to repeal Section 6-140 through 6-143 inclusive. Section 2. THAT Chapter 6, Article VI, Section 6-144 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: ARTICLE VI. PLUMBING CODE Sec. 6-140 The 1994 Edition of The Standard Plumbing Code, except for Appendices, is hereby adopted and declared operative as the plumbing code of the city, save and except those portions that are deleted, modified or amended by this Code of Ordinances. A copy of such code is on file in the office of the city clerk. Section 3. THAT Chapter 6, Section 6-145 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be and the same is hereby amend to read as follows: Sec. 6-145 Code Amendments, Modification and Deletions. 1 Section 611.3 of The Standard Plumbing Code is amended to read as follows: Sec. 611.3 Underground inaccessible water distribution piping under a slab shall be copper water tube minimum type"U'. Section 703.2 of The Standard Plumbing Code is amended to read as follows: Sec. 703.2 All sanitary drainage piping to be schedule 40 pvc or better, cast iron, or copper tube. Section 704 of The Standard Plumbing Code is amended by adding a new subsection 704.7 to read as follows: Sec. 704.7 In buildings over three (3) stories in height, drain waste and vent pipes shall be cast iron. Cast iron pipe shall be used for topping out of buildings over three(3) stories in height. Copper arms shall be used on lavatories, and sinks are required to have chrome traps. Galvanized arms on sinks and lavatories are permissible if used together with drainage fittings. Section 4. THAT if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 5. THAT all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. 2 Section 6. THAT any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, Texas.
