HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 96-19 ORDINANCE NO. /Q ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN STRUCTURES TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND ORDERING THEIR DEMOLITION AND/OR REPAIR; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares the buildings located at: 3560 Avenue B 1308 Gray 1545 Avenue G 2627 Hazel 2558 Bolivar 2790 Hebert 976 Bonham 2260 Irving 978 Bonham 2435 Laurel 3145 Brenham 735 Lincoln 1755 Brooklyn 2748 E. Lucas (Garage Apt.) 2795 W. Cedar 2750 E. Lucas (Rear) 4040 Cleveland 3340 Magnolia 8727 College (Commercial) 2110 Nora 1948 Delaware 1520 Pennsylvania 1775 Euclid 3375 Rivers Road 2790 South Fourth 7550 Tram Road 6520 Frint 1666 Washington Blvd. (Garage Apt) to be a public nuisance in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of age or dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or property. 1 Section 2. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance: 3560 Avenue B 1308 Gray 1545 Avenue G 2627 Hazel 2558 Bolivar 976 Bonham 2260 Irving 978 Bonham 2435 Laurel 3145 Brenham 735 Lincoln 1755 Brooklyn 2748 E. Lucas (Garage Apt.) 2795 W. Cedar 2750 E. Lucas (Rear) 4040 Cleveland 3340 Magnolia 8727College (Commercial) 2110 Nora 1948 Delaware 1775 Euclid 3375 Rivers Road 2790 South Fourth 7550 Tram Road 6520 Frint 1666 Washington Blvd. (Garage Apt) Section 3. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the following described buildings either demolish, repair or initiate a work program for repair of said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance: 2790 Hebert 1520 Pennsylvania 2 Section 4. The following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by the City of Beaumont on account of the owners thereof and such expense of demolition and removal shall be assessed as a special tax against the properties upon which the buildings are situated. The following structures were heretofore declared to be public nuisances in violation of Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City: 2385 Avenue A 805 Jefferson Alley 2855 Avenue A 815 Jefferson Alley 1012 Avenue B 845 Jefferson Alley 6755 Bigner Road 849 Jefferson 3170 Cooke 2865 M.L. Pkwy 3174 Cooke 720 Lee 2360 Delaware 1705 Leiper 2360 Delaware (Garage) 1715 Leiper 4170 Ector (Front) 775 Lincoln 3910 Ethel 1540 Madison 4447 Galveston 2912 Magnolia (Garage) 1265 Gill 3955 Magnolia 1772 Irving 2325 Park 3280 Irving 2330 Pear 1312 Isla 1170-72 Powell 1320-22 Isla 3249 Shannon 644 Jackson 709 Stanton Section 5. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. 3 Section 6. That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
