WHEREAS Fairway Sports has a long-term commitment to the re-establishment of
the Babe Zaharias Female athlete of the year award program to be held annually as one
of Beaumont's premier events and attractions; and
WHEREAS, the first event, under the sponsorship of Fairway Sports, will be held
on Monday, November 10, 1997 at the Beaumont Civic Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute an agreement to
provide use of the Civic Center and assistance with the necessary preparation work for
the Babe Zaharias Award Ceremony to Fairway Sports, Inc. substantially in the form
attached hereto as Exhibit "A."
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the fix day

MEMO OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN
FAIRWAY SPORTS AND THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
Fairway Sports has a long-term commitment to the re-establishment
of the Babe Zaharias Female athlete of the
held annually as one of Beaumont ' s Year award program to be
premier events and attractions.
The first event, under the sponsorship of Fairway Sports, will be
held on Monday, November 10, 1997 at the Beaumont Civic Center.
Fairway Sports has secured from the Babe Zaharias Foundation the
right to use of the name, "Babe Zaharias" and has paid a licensing
fee to the Foundation for the right.
Fairway Sports, as the national sponsor of the annual event, will
underwrite any expenses of the program and related events not covered
by the sale of sponsor tables, individual tickets, avrtng
sales, and program sales or from other revenue producingaactivities.
Fairway Sports has named the local chapter of Court A p
Advocates of Southeast Texas (CASA ) as the beneficiary of the tfirspecial
event and has guaranteed CASA a minimum $10, 000. contribution.
CASA members and friends of CASA will assist Fairway Sports in the
promotion, sponsor, ticket, and program advertising sales for the event.
The City of Beaumont will be cited in all promotional material,
locally and nationally, scheduled by Fairway Sports,.
The City of Beaumont will provide the use of the Civic Center and
assistance with installation and dismantling of tables, chairs, decor-
ations, sound and light systems for the event
