BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has been notified by the Texas Department of
Transportation that it is eligible to receive funding to assist in highway safety enforcement;
and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont recognizes that the safety and security of the
motoring public is of paramount concern to the City; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont strives to enhance the safety of the motoring
public; and,
WHEREAS, grant funding through the Texas Department of Transportation would
assist in enhancing the safety of the motoring public and reducing motor vehicle accidents
which often result in loss of life or personal injury; and
WHEREAS,traffic safety enforcement and encouragement of safe driving habits are
significant goals of the Beaumont Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has been notified by the Texas Department of
Transportation that it is eligible for federal reimbursement in an amount not to exceed
Twelve-Thousand Four Hundred and Ninety-Three ($12,493) Dollars pursuant to the
projects titled "FY04 S.T.E.P Waves".
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has agreed to contribute One-Thousand Six-
Hundred Fifty-Eight ($1,658) Dollars as their portion of the costs for the projects titles
"FY04 S.T.E.P Waves" which are Thanksgiving 2003 holiday, Child Passenger Safety
Week 2004, Memorial Day 2004 holiday, and Labor Day 2004 holiday:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager of the City of Beaumont be, and is hereby, authorized to execute
all documents necessary to accept the project titled "FY04 S.T.E.P Waves" and take such
action as necessary to implement the project which occurs between November 10, 2003
and September 22, 2004; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City Manager of the City of Beaumont be, and
is hereby, authorized to accept and disburse the federal reimbursement grant funding in
the amount not to exceed Twelve-Thousand Four-Hundred and Ninety-Three ($12,493)
Dollars; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City Manager of the City of Beaumont be, and
is hereby, authorized to take such other actions and execute such documents as may be
necessary and appropriate to implement the purpose and objectives of the"FY04 S.T.E.P.
Waves" project.
