ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT TO ADOPT POSITIONS,AND REMOVE JOB
TITLES WITHIN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
THAT Chapter 21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont is hereby
amended to repeal Section 21-74 and adopt a new Section 21-74 to read as follows:
Section 21-74
The following grades and positions are hereby created in the Fire Department:
(a) Grade I-There shall be one hundred and two (102) positions in Grade
1, said positions being Firefighters.
(b) Grade II - There shall be seventy-three (73) positions in Grade II, said
positions being Fire Driver/Operators.
(c) Grade III - There shall be forty-two (42) positions in Grade III, said
positions being Fire Captains.
(d) Grade IV - There shall be twelve (12) positions in Grade IV, said
positions being District Fire Chiefs.
(e) Grade V- There shall be three (3) positions in Grade V, said positions
being Deputy Fire Chiefs.
(f) Grade VI - There shall be one (1) position in Grade VI, said position
being Assistant Fire Chief.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be
held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the
extent of the conflict only.
