ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN
STRUCTURES TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND
ORDERING THEIR DEMOLITION AND/OR REPAIR;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR
A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares the buildings
located at:
1657 Tagore 1138 Victoria Cts.
895 Doucette (Commercial) 1140 Victoria Cts.
2660 Atlanta 1148 Victoria Cts.
760-62 Irby (Duplex) 1150 Victoria Cts.
3255 Sarah 1158 Victoria Cts.
3830 Scranton 1160 Victoria Cts.
1855 Pierce 1168 Victoria Cts.
5730 Bigner Road 1180 Victoria Cts.
2408-12 Cable (Apartments) 1190 Victoria Cts.
2420-24 Cable (Apartments) 1198 Victoria Cts.
1081 Gladys (Commercial) 3700 Highland (Commercial
each to be a public nuisance in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of
age or dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons
or property.
Section 2.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4

of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the
following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within thirty (30) days of
the effective date of this ordinance:
1657 Tagore 1138 Victoria Cts.
895 Doucette (Commercial) 1140 Victoria Cts.
2660 Atlanta 1148 Victoria Cts.
760-62 Irby (Duplex) 1150 Victoria Cts.
3255 Sarah 1158 Victoria Cts.
3830 Scranton 1160 Victoria Cts.
1855 Pierce 1168 Victoria Cts.
5730 Bigner Road 1180 Victoria Cts.
2408-12 Cable (Apartments) 1190 Victoria Cts.
2420-24 Cable (Apartments) 1198 Victoria Cts.
1081 Gladys (Commercial)
Section 3.
In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, and Section 103.4
of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owners or owners of the
following building either demolish or repair said structure within thirty (30) days of the
effective date of this ordinance. The owner or owners of the following building are also
ordered to secure the structure within two (2)weeks of the effective date of this Ordinance.

Section 4.
The following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by the
City of Beaumont on account of the owners thereof and such expense of demolition and
removal shall be assessed as a special tax against the properties upon which the buildings

are situated. The following structures were heretofore declared to be public nuisances in
violation of Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City:

Section 5.
The owners of the structures listed below have executed Demolition Consent Forms
authorizing the City to demolish the structures. The structures meet the criteria of a
dangerous structure and have deteriorated such that they are no longer suitable for repair.
Therefore, the following structures are hereby authorized to be demolished by the City.
1735 Brooklyn 5885 Comstock Road
1745 Brooklyn
Section 6.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be
held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.

Section 7.
That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
