ORDINANCE NO. 03-083
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ABANDONING A430'SECTION
OF BURT STREET, A GENERAL UTILITY EASEMENT IN
BLOCK F, OAKWOOD ADDITION AND RE-DEDICATION OF
A 50' SECTION OF FULTON AVENUE IN BEAUMONT,
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT a 430' section of Burt Street and a general utility easement in Block F, Oakwood
Addition in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as shown on Exhibits "A" and
"B" attached hereto, be and the same are hereby vacated and abandoned, subject to the
retention of a street, drainage and general utility easement for that 430' section of the
abandoned Burt Street; and,
THAT the re-dedication of the 50' section of Fulton Avenue as shown on Exhibits "A" and
"B" attached hereto is hereby accepted.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 4th day of
November, 2003.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR ORDINANCE PURPOSES
Burt Street-
That certain portion of Burt Street, 0.5911 acre tract situated in the David Brown Survey,
Abstract 5, Jefferson County, Texas, also being out of and a part of Oakwood Addition, a plat
recorded in Volume 4 Page 67, of the Map Records of Jefferson County,Texas, said 0.5911
acre tract being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
Note: The Basis of Bearings is along south right-of-way line of Van Buren Avenue between
Holly and Grove Streets, having been called North 89'59'00' East in Clerk's File No. 9842565 of
the Official Public Records of Jefferson County,Texas.
BEGINNING at a %a iron pipe found in the south right-of-way line of Burt Street for the
northwest comer of lot 13, Block 4 of said Oakwood Addition and the southwest comer of the
said 0.5911 acre tract from which a %:" iron rod found for the southwest comer of said Lot 13
bears South 00°0219"W 139.72 feet(called 140.00 feet);
THENCE North 00°02'19" East a distance of 60.31 feet to a point in the north right-of-way line of
said Burt Street and the south line of Lot 19, Block 2 of Hillside Addition, a plat of record in
Volume 4, Page 182 of the Map Records of Jefferson County, Texas for the northwest comer of
the said 0.5911 acre tract;
THENCE North 89°58'15" East along the said north right-of-way line of said Burt Street and the
south line of Block 2 of said Hillside Addition and Block B of said Oakwood Addition a distance
of 430.36 feet to a point in the south line of Lot 3, Block B of Oakwood Addition for the northeast
comer of the said 0.5911 acre tract;
THENCE South 00 001'45' East a distance of 59.77 feet to a point in the said south right-of-way
line of Burt Street and the north line of Lot 14, Block 5 of said Oakwood Addition for the
southeast comer of the said 0.5911 acre tract;
THENCE North 89°58'08"West along the said south right-of-way line of Burt Street and the
north line of Block 5 of said Oakwood Addition a distance of 122.85 feet to a 1' iron pipe found
for the northwest comer of Lot 16, Block 5 of said Oakwood Addition and the northeast comer of

THENCE North 89 05843'West continuing along the said south right-of-way line of Burt Street a
distance of 59.90 feet to a 1'iron pipe found for the northeast comer of Lot 9, Block 4 of said

THENCE South 89°48'13'West continuing along the said south right-of-way line of Burt Street
and the north line of said Block 4 of Oakwood Addition a distance of 247.69 feet to the POINT
OF BEGINNING and containing 0.5911 acres (25,748.32 sq. fL)of land, more or less.
General Utility Easement- Being a 20'x 320' general utility easement,as created in Ord.
27-5, beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 1, Block F,
Oakwood Addition and running in an easterly direction for a
distance of 320' to the southeast corner of Lot 7, Block F,

Lot 16, Block 16 of said Oakwood Addition;
THENCE North 89°52'11' East along the said north right-of-way line of Fulton Avenue and the
south line of the said Block 16 a distance of 151.31 feet to a point for the southwest comer of
Lot 13, Block 16 of said Oakwood Addition and the northwest comer of the said 0.0690 acre
tract and the POINT OF BEGINNING;
THENCE North 89°52'11' East continuing along the said north right-of-way line of Fulton
