ORDINANCE NO.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 26,
SECTION 26-24 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT BY ADDING A NEW SECTION
26-24.1 CONCERNING SCHOOL SPEED ZONE
LIMITS-SUMMER SESSION; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 26 , Section 26-24 of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be amended by adding a new
Section 26-24.1 to read as follows:
Section 26-24.1 :
In accordance with this section, and when signs are
erected giving notice thereof, the prima facie speed
limit shall be twenty (20) miles per hour, Monday
through Friday on school days, at locations designated
yearly by the Beaumont Independent School District.
School zone times during the summer session shall be
set thirty (30 ) minutes prior to and fifteen (15)
minutes after the beginning of the class day, and
fifteen (15) minutes prior to and thirty (30) minutes
after the end of the school day.
These times shall coincide with the commencement and
dismissal times provided by the Beaumont Independent
School District.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.

Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed.:to the extent of the 'conflict only.
Section 4.
Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1 -8 of
the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
