ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-21
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADDING AN
AMENDED SECTION A.103.1.1 TO THE STANDARD
BUILDING CODES PROVIDING FOR THE OBTAINING
OF A BUILDING PERMIT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF
BURGLAR BARS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PROVIDING FOR
PENALTY;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
THAT Section 6-21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be and it is
hereby amended by adding an amended Section A.103.1.1 to the Standard Building Codes
to read as follows:
Section A.103.1.1 - When Required
Any owner, authorized agent, or contractor who desires to construct, enlarge,
alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or
structure, or to erect, or construct a sign of any description, or to install or
alter fire extinguishing apparatus, elevators, engines, or to install a steam
boiler, furnace, heater, incinerator, or other heat producing apparatus, or
other appurtenances, or to install burglar bars, the installation of which is
regulated by this Code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make
application to the Building Official and obtain the required permit for the
work.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance,
and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent
of the conflict only.
Section 4.
That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont,
Texas.
