HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 93-21 ORDINANCE NO. 93' °21 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 1ST DAY OF MAY, 1993 FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING FOUR (4) WARD COUNCIL MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, in session, duly called the regular city election to be held on the 1st day of May, 1993 and the election returns of the votes cast in said election were canvassed for the following officials: For the officer for the office of Councilmember, Ward I; For the officer for the office of Councilmember, Ward II; For the officer for the office of Councilmember, Ward III; For the officer for the office of Councilmember, Ward IV. WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said returns, the City Council found that the 11,418 votes cast at said election for the several candidates for said offices were as follows: For Councilmember, Ward I: Votes Percentage Ernest B. Hendrix 653 22 .94 Lulu L. Smith 2, 193 77 . 06 For Councilmember, Ward II Guy N. Goodson 3,317 100. 00 For Councilmember, 'Ward III: Mark A. Acree 82 5.87 Jerry L. Whittington, Sr. 544 38.94 John K. Davis 771 55. 19 For Councilmember, Ward IV: David W. Moore 1, 609 84.91 Get Williams 286 15.09 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT Section 1. THAT the results of said regular City election be, and the same are hereby, declared to have been as herein set out, and the following named persons were elected to the following offices: For Councilmember, Ward I: Lulu L. Smith For Councilmember, Ward II: Guy N. Goodson For Councilmember, Ward III: John K. Davis For Councilmember, Ward IV: David W. Moore The City Council of the City of Beaumont further finds that notice of said election was duly and properly given as required by law and provided in the ordinance calling for said election, and that said election was duly and regularly held and returns thereof were duly and regularly made by the proper officials of said election and in all things according to law. Section 2 . That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular person, or to a particular set of circumstances, should for any reason be held invalid, such invalidity shall in no way affect the remaining portions and provisions of this ordinance or declared to be severable. 2 Section 3 . That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the day of 1993 . - Mayor - 3
