ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN STRUCTURES TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND ORDERING THEIR DEMOLITION AND/OR REPAIR; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares the buildings located at: 1665 Washington Blvd. 580 N. Circuit 2105 Harriot 1470 Stewart 1956 Liberty 2040 Poplar 2045 Pecos 740 Prairie (Downstairs & 1925 Harrison Upstairs) 2455 Washington Blvd. (Commercial) 1925 Harrison (Garage) 4020 Houston (Commercial) 1335-45 Magnolia 4140 Ector 1280 Grand 2055 College (Commercial) 3770 Pine 3487 Westmoreland 4360 Carnegie 3880 Delores 2060 Toledo 3882 Delores 2078 Tulane 580 N. Circuit (Garage) 3080 Concord each to be a public nuisance in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of age or dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or property. Section 2. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owners or owners of the following buildings either demolish or repair said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance. 1665 Washington Blvd. 2105 Harriot 3487 Westmoreland Section 3. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance: 1470 Stewart 2040 Poplar 740 Prairie (Downstairs & 2455 Washington Blvd. Upstairs) (Commercial) 4020 Houston (Commercial) 4140 Ector 2055 College (Commercial) 3882 Delores 3880 Delores 1956 Liberty 580 N. Circuit (Garage) 1925 Harrison 2045 Pecos 1335-45 Magnolia 1925 Harrison (Garage) 3770 Pine 1280 Grand 2060 Toledo 4360 Carnegie 3080 Concord 2078 Tulane 580 N. Circuit Section 4. The following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by the City of Beaumont on account of the owners thereof and such expense of demolition and removal shall be assessed as a special tax against the properties upon which the buildings are situated. The following structures were theretofore declared to be public nuisances in violation of Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City: 3245 Chaison (Garage Apt.) 635 Mary 1305 Crockett (Commercial) 2295 Orange (Garage Apt.) 1365-95 Crockett (Commercial) 1596 Pipkin 2145 Renaud 3349 Grand 2105 Rusk 1255 Harriot 1255 Harriot (Garage Apt.) 1962 Southerland 2445 Hegele 2265 Southerland 6845 Highway 105 2675 Southerland 370 E. LaSalle 2760 Tannis 1488 Louisiana 5870 Tyrrell Park 1235 Maple 3338 West 1245 Maple 3338 West (Garage) Section 5. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 6. That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
