HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 94-17 ORDINANCE NO. 9171-17 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 94-7 CALLING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD MAY 77 1994, TO MAKE NECESSARY CHANGES IN THE JOINT ELECTION TO BE HELD WITH BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR PLACES WHERE VOTING IN CERTAIN PRECINCTS SHALL BE HELD; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the City of Beaumont Charter and the laws of Texas relating thereto, a regular general municipal election has been called to be held jointly with Beaumont Independent School District on May 7, 1994. Ordinance No. 94-7 must be amended to include a Beaumont Independent School District bond issue proposition to be considered by all the qualified voters within the School District's boundary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: 1. THAT Exhibit "A" of Ordinance No. 94-7 shall be amended to add three additional voting precincts to allow legally qualified voters from the Beaumont Independent School District of Precincts 31 and 33 to vote at Tyrrell Park Recreation Center, Tyrrell Park, and of Precinct 66 to vote at the Bevil Oaks Civic Center, 7390 Sweetgum, and that Mildred Juinez Jones be appointed Judge and Deborah Olson be appointed Alternate Judge to serve Precinct 66. 2. That Section 10 of Ordinance No. 94-7 be amended to include all city voting places and precincts in addition to the three listed above in the joint election to be held with Beaumont Independent School District. e r li d.-!7 3_a �-T-y 3. That this ordinance shall be finally passed on the date of its enactment and shall take effect immediately upon its passage and signature by the Mayor. 4. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
