HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 94-26 ORDINANCE NO. `�- ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 7TH DAY OF MAY, 1994; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. WHEREAS, a general election was held in the City of Beaumont on the 7th day of May, 1994, for the election of a Mayor and two Councilman-at-Large; and, WHEREAS, the returns of said election were canvassed on the 10th day of May, 1994; and, WHEREAS, a recount of the returns for the office of Mayor were requested prior to such canvass; and, WHEREAS, a recount of such Mayor's race was conducted May 11, 1994; and, WHEREAS, as a result of said recount in the election returns thereof there were 18,549 votes cast in said election and were canvassed for the following official: For the officer for the office of Mayor: WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said returns the City Council finds that the votes cast at said election for the officer for the office of Mayor were as follows: For Mayor: Votes Brian Alter 67583 Tom Jackson 2,647 David Moore 9,319 1 S—i7 - 9�/ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. THAT the results of said regular city election for the officer for the office of Mayor be and the same are hereby declared to have been as herein set out and the following named person was elected to the following office: For Mayor: David W. Moore The City Council of the City of Beaumont further finds that notice of said election was duly and properly given as required by law and provided in the ordinance calling for said election and that said election was duly and regularly held and returns thereof were duly and regularly made by the proper officials of said election and in all things according to law. Section 2. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular person, or to a particular set of circumstances, should for any reason be held invalid, such invalidity shall in no way affect the remaining portions of this ordinance and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
