ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
CHAPTER 1, SECTION 1-8 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
TO AMEND THE GENERAL PENALTY
PROVISION APPLICABLE TO THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Chapter 1, Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and
the same is hereby, amended to read as follows:
Sec. 1-8. General penalty.
It shall be unlawful for any person to violate or fail to comply with any
provision of this Code and where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any
provision of this Code shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars
($500.00); provided, where such fine is for an offense for which the state law imposes a fine,
the fine imposed by the municipal court shall be the same as the fine for such like offense
under the state law. Each day any violation of any provision of this Code shall continue shall
constitute a separate offense.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should, for any reason, be
held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and,
to such end, the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.

Section 3.
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent
of the conflict only.
