ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING THE
STRUCTURE AT 998 CENTER STREET TO BE
A DANGEROUS STRUCTURE AND ORDERING
ITS IMMEDIATE DEMOLITION; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING A
PENALTY.
WHEREAS the structure at 998 Center Street has been inspected by the enforcement
officer for the City and found to be in violation of the City's dangerous structures ordinance;
and,
WHEREAS, the owner of the property has waived all notice requirements and provided
a written authorization for the City to demolish the structure recognizing that the costs of such
demolition will be charged to him and could ultimately become an encumbrance to the real
property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares that the
building located at 998 Center Street in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas is a
dangerous structure and a public nuisance in that said building violates Chapter 14, Section 14-
50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and is for want of repairs or by reason
of age or dilapidated condition likely to be a danger to persons or property and or likely to
promote or cause fires.
The structure at 998 Center Street is hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by
the City of Beaumont on account of the owner thereof and such expense of demolition and
removal shall be assessed as a special tax against the property upon which the building is

situated.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be
held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and
to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3.
That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be
punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
