HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 90-30 ORDINANCE NO. 96) - 3o ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE REGULAR GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 5TH DAY OF MAY, 1990, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND TWO (2) COUNCIL MEMBERS-AT-LARGE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, in session duly called the regular city election to be held on the 5th day of May, 1990, and the election returns of the 16, 674 votes cast in said election were canvassed for the following officials: For the officer for the office of Mayor; For the officer for the office of Councilman-At-Large; For the officer for the office of Councilman-At-Large; WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said returns, the City Council found that the votes cast at said election for the several candidates for said offices were as follows: For Mayor: Votes Evelyn M. Lord 10, 141 David W. Moore 5, 327 Larry J. (Tot-T) Gouthia 63 Beverly Hatcher 747 For Councilman-At-Large: Brian Alter 6,831 Mark A. Acree 379 James "Jim" Bailey 601 Robert E. Cummings 3,257 Andrew P. Cokinos 11, 194 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: 10 b Section 1. THAT the results of said regular City election be and the same are hereby declared to have been as herein set out, and the following named persons were elected to the following offices: For Mayor: Evelyn M. Lord For Councilman-At-Large Andrew P. Cokinos For Councilman-At-Large Brian Alter The City Council of the City of Beaumont further finds that notice said election was duly and properly given as required by the law and provided in the ordinance calling for said election, and that said election was duly and regularly held and returns thereof were duly and regularly made by the proper officials of said election and in all things according to law. Section 2 . That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular person, or to a particular set of circumstances, should for any reason be held invalid, such invalidity shall in no way affect the remaining portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 3 . That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the day of >2-)el, 1990. Mayor -
