ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28 ,
SECTION 28-55 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT CONCERNING CONNECTION TO THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT'S WATER AND SEWER SYSTEM;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR
REPEAL AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 28, Section 28-55 of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Beaumont be amended to read as follows:
Section 28-55: Connection to Water and Sewer Systems
All property owners owning property within
the city which is within three hundred feet
(300 ' ) of a city sanitary sewer or water line
measured from the property line of such
. property to such utility line shall be required
to connect to same.
It shall be unlawful for any person or agent
of any company to make connections with or any
opening into the city sanitary sewer or water
system. It shall be unlawful for any person or
agent of any company to open, close or tamper
with water system appurtenances. All water and
sanitary sewer connections shall be made by
Water Utilities Department personnel or persons
authorized by the Water Utilities Director.
Application for connection permits
shall be made in writing to the Building
Inspections Superintendent by the property
owner or his authorized agent.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various

portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 4.
That any person who violated any provision of this
ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in
Section 1 -8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
